I am planning ahead for next year. I am planning to grow some brassicas and I am looking to protect them with scaffold netting. Money is very tight at the moment and I would love to know the best place to get 3m wide scaffold/debris netting from please.

Thanks all :)

Is it to protect from feathered friends or cabbage white?
I feel that makes a bit dark underneath and draws the plants.
Used fruit cage netting to protect from birdies and that worked.

as said debris net is a bit dark.

Debris netting is popular because it's so tough.  With pond netting you can end up repairing tears all the time.  But debris netting will collapse under the weight of snow.  You pays your money etc.

People buy it online from sites like Scaffolding Direct or even Amazon.

http://www.scaffolding-direct.co.uk/Debris_Netting_and_Monoflex_Sheeting_66/index.aspx

If you decide to buy, I would go for red or white rather than green as it's more likely to be unique on your site and so less nick-able.

Or you can just hang round building sites when they are taking scaffolding down and intercept it on its way to the skip.

I bought debris netting (last year or the one before) to protect from butterflits and their rotten off-spring.  >:(

Looked all over the place - local garden centre prices were high so bought it via an EB shop. Can't recall which off hand but it was much cheaper... although not cheap. I had to buy 25m of 3m width.

One fine day I'll even get to use it! The plan is to make a good long clear stretch for my cabbage and their family then chop the debris into useable lengths.

If I'd waited a week or two I could have had miles of the stuff for free!! It was used around the place where I worked. The old building was demolished once the new was in place. The builders apparently screwed it up and dumped it in the skips!!  :(

Stick with the idea of scaffold netting. I've used it for 3 years. It lets rain and light through. Not one cabbage white. You don't need alot to keep them out.

Still there  ;D
Now we had a similar conversation a few weeks ago, pictures going missing but some people can still see them. As the poster I thought you should still be able to see it.

The stuff is so cheap its not even worth scrounging,  on ebay its about £28 for a roll 3 meters wide and 30 metres long.

I make rectangular netted frames with it, using timber recycled from 2.2 metre pallates, ie the frames are 2 x 1 x 0.5 metres high The ones i made three years ago are 99% still intact and usable, its the timber framing that usually shows sign of weer and weathering.

They dont work as well on large spreading plants like Brussel Sprouts, im thinking of how I can make individual tubular ones, like socks with a hard rim, to slip over them.  Need a supply of very cheap or free kids hula hoops :D  The netting is a bugger to  stich on a domestic sewing machine, thats another problem i need to solve.

Ive just got a Chester 7x14 metal lathe, so now i can begin construction of a tool bar for my quad bike so i can plough the lotty with it.

Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

I like the sock idea.  Could you use blue water pipe bent into a circle and join the ends together with dowel or pierced with cable ties/wire or similar?

Ooooh do you need to have a frame found the stuff.  I'll try my curtain netting condoms on my sprouts (worked well with the raspberries).  Mind you it may be a stable door situation as I am infested with bloody white fly.
