RECORD BREAKER
« on: February 08, 2005, 08:25:19 »
Lets all join in and give a big cheer for Ellen MacArthur, and what a good idea to sail around the world just as it is too wet to get on the garden.  Did I  mention she only lives a few streets away so we shall al be celebrating this weekend. I notice a few pubs have applied for 24 hours opening. So it certainly looks like PARTY TIME

What an amazing woman!
I can't make up my mind as to wether she is incredibly brave or stark raving mad! The though of being alone on the high seas in a small boat for what was it 71 days? Stuff nightmares are made of! ;D
But she did herself, her team and us proud! ;D

Watched the return on the News last night - very exciting. Hope the poor girl got some sleep on the way to Falmouth as it really looked party time there!

Also congrats to her land crew - phenomenal acheievement all round.

Do think she must be mad though!

NB:  Sorry, got it wrong - it's a trimaran (still not sure of the spelling :-\)

Completely agree that Ellen MacArthur is the most fantastic person - we should all be so proud of her achievements......I went into a small local shop this morning and the girl behind the counter was saying....

"I can't think what all the fuss is about - seems a daft thing to me what she's done".........

       O.M.G.....I wanted to slap her!

       Three cheers for Ellen

I'm really proud of what she has done, it's a great achievement.  It's also great to see good news in the news rather than just despair and distruction.

BUT - Thats all I've heard about today.  If I break the world hopping round the world on my own with no money record would I get the same attention? Probably not.

Give the girl the glory though! Hip Hip Hooooooray ;D
