Snowdrops this year seem to be opening in sequence rather than in one huge mass.

Is that Hellebore Niger at the top Eric?

Mine are out but not as perfect as that one.

I do like H Ballardii, very nice indeed, how big does it get?

About the same size as H. x orientalis, say 2 foot and the flowers about 2 inches across. Lots of different colours.You were not that far out though, the original cross was between H. lividus and H. niger., done by Helen Ballard, hence the name.

I love hellebores but (as usual) restricted space means I only have a couple. Last autumn I moved them and they don't seem too happy - not much in the way of new growth and no flowers yet, so I'll just sigh over your pics Eric....

I love hellebores. I must get one. But they are always so expensive in the garden centres.

Hi aquilegia, You could try somewhere like http://www.jparkers.co.uk/  You can get 15 bare rooted christmas roses for £11.90. The orientalis ones are more expensive.

I have a dark, dreary corner of the garden thats boggy and uncultivated. I sunk a hellebore pot in there last year, thinking that I'd move it to a proper home later, forgot all about and hey!! I shot outside outside this morning, late as usual, and stopped in my tracks cos two beautiful creamy flowers are in bud, it sounds daft but they positively glow in that icky old corner! I'm doing a pc for techno-scaredy cats course at the mo at my local college, hopefully tomorrow I'll finally (having been doing it for longer than I care to say  ;D) learn how to post pics on here, so if I do, that hellebore will be my first pic!

What beautiful photos! My hellebores are only just starting to flower - the two that have buds are really dark. Can't wait to see the Corsican when it finally get's it's act together!
