Really sorry about your failed crop, Melbourne.  Five years ago we lost all our tomatoes, almost overnight.  It's a rotten thing to happen.  I did manage to salvage  a good number of green tomatoes, that got used for all sort of interesting recipes.
However, we have hardly any apples this year, and no plums.  We win some and we lose some!

Sorry to hear that toms were a wash out this year melbourne. Its so disheartening.

Mine have fought off the mildew and blight and overcast wet weather and the 5 degree night on thursday! But not really producing what they should. But i have one last hope a late starter on the big zac , i'm sure it will beat my personal best this year of 1lb!
Peanut the competition was for a4a ers and we didn't specify country so your burpees delicious might just take the trophy.
I think we should watch out for the late snatchers now though!

This is not a winner but had to post a picture on behalf of my Dad.  He is in his 80s and doesn't do much in the garden anymore. This year he put a few tomato plants in his greenhouse just to see if anything would grow. One of them was a Marmande and he has been picking some whoppers. No real special treatment, just the occasion watering and tomato feed.  This is his biggest so far - 11ozs !!
Mine are slowly coming along but nothing like my Dads, and he doesn't even know about the competition !!!lol

None of my other Délice de Burpée has come near my biggest one.  But when comparing sizes with a French gardener friend yesterday, he has produced one at 940gms, or 2lbs 1oz, also grown outside - amazing!  But he isn't in A4A!

I forgot to add that my French friend's enormous tomato was a Coeur de boeuf, certainly a good flavour.  But why we like that variety, and the Délice de Burpée, is that the flesh is almost solid, with few seeds, and you can cut thick slices like cutting beef fillet (not that I do that very often if at all now!)

Just been admiring all your huge efforts, well,by my growing standards.

Big Thanks to Jeennine for sending us the "Big Zak" seeds to have a go at this fun comp.

This is our biggest Tomato albeit small by others and it tasted great I have to say.

1 plant only survived and when this one Tommy turned red I lopped his head off afore he fell off the stem.
There are 4 others still growing so ive only 9 oz to beat ....so hope I can beat that.

"God how ive muthered the bloomin thing",really enjoyed the fun element of growing Toms.!!!!!!

GazNjude.....

Didn't bother taking a photo, just ate it for lunch!
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴
