Busy day at the allotment

Been busy with the camera again. This is plot number one, all forked over and already has things growing in it. Cloches that Ava made me are in situ to warm the soil for the peas.
New patch. Lots of grass and stinging nettles. YOUCH!
Mine up to the raspberry canes.

Fab looking plot EJ.
Least you dont have any brambles or dots on the new patch. What are the trees in the middle anything nice - fruit trees ?
Well done both of you.
Piglet :D

They are apple trees piglet, not sure on variety, they were inherited and there are a lot of fruit trees on the site as it used to be the local Priory's orchard. Either side are currant bushes and goosegog bushes.
The new plot is mine up to the post you can just make out. It will be enough for a start, really only for pumpkins and things this year as I doubt I will have it cleared and prepared in time for spuds, which was the real intention of getting a second plot. Mind, you never know ;D

I am sooo impressed E.J. what a neat tidy plot....and more impressed too that you spent ages there yesterday in these bitterly cold winds...I intended to go to mine today but chickened out cos it's so b****y cold!....so the site is on the old Priory orchard - being a former sort of local gal - I'm interested....H.P.

Apparently so HP. We are hoping to do a bit more investigating, but it is like trying to get blood out of a stone round here! We live almost over the road from Priory remains, and I guess our allotment is over the fields as the crow flies in a line from the arch. There are plum trees, pear trees, apple trees - some full of mistletoe, fruit bushes everywhere, and grape vines running through the trees. I sense a visit to Chelmsford library is in order to do some research.

All looks very nice indeed without being too poncey and Chelsea Flower show.
Was out digging in the cold yeterday and have sore throat from breathing in brambles smoke :'(
Will post picces of beds and defeated brambles next week !
