« on: April 12, 2011, 23:03:26 »
Well, it was our association AGM this evening, all done and dusted in half an hour !!

we then had a talk from the environmental health officer r.e. Bonfires.

followed by a talk on organic gardening by Karen Kenny.

all went very smoothly with no hassles at all. we must be doing something right LOL

How interesting Tony. Are you going to share some info about the talks with us?
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I'm sure you are doing everything right Tony - maybe it's the ones which aren't which have disruptive AGMs.

We've never thought of having a guest speaker at ours.  Was it well attended?

We asked for items to be included and nominations two weeks before the AGM. I think that helps it was a tip from Karen Kenny at the training day.
I think AGMs pass off peacefully if you are doing everything well or if people as so fed up that they feel there is no point saying anything!
I hope we fall into the former category! :-\

Hi Betty and Anne!
the meeting was well attended, with 112 tenants attending.
As we have to book the hall for 3 hr minimum, and AGM takes less than an hour, I thought it would be a good idea to have a guest speaker.
Our AGMs  used to take over 3 hours, and were a mud-slinging match between disgruntled tenants and an under-active committee. The last two AGMs were over in less than an hour.
I presented a powerpoint to show tenants what we've been up to in last year ( email me if you want a copy)
attached is the notification / agenda.

I'm sure things are going really well on your site Anne.   :)

Sometimes things must be going seriously wrong on sites for there to be a very troublesome AGM.  The odd grumbles or niggles are only to be expected, but something  like the Chair being opposed by many people would be very worrying.

Tone is couldn't have gone that smooth, every AGM has one rotten apple trying to spoil it.   ;)
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Good job Tony.  And really good of Karen and the Environmental Health to give their time.

Good job Tony.  And really good of Karen and the Environmental Health to give their time.
the environmental health were there to discuss issues with smoke from bonfires affecting the local hospitals sensitive fire alarms! ( 21 call outs in last 12 months to false alarms @ the hospital )
the environmental health officer is going to email me a document regarding bonfires on allotments, I'll post it later this week.
