They are too small for tomatoes and chillies. You would need to water them many times during the day because they would dry out too quickly and the plants would become stressed. You would be better with small herb plants or even small annual flowers.

Hi Cam, I think you could get tomatoes in your pouches if I am right about something I think may be a typo on your list.

You have Mamo Minibel.. Could that be Mano (not mamo) and Minibel, two types.

If so, Mano only grows to a height of 18-24" and Minibel is even smaller at 6-12"

Their very small size particularly Minibel which will grow in a 6" pot should make it doable in the pouch.

Of course I could be wrong and maybe there bis a tomato called Mano Minibel.

Jeannine your probably right as i got them from a swap and i cant read my own hand writing on the envelope :)

Thompson and Morgan say the pouches can sustain 3 tomato plants per pouch :) So am thinking varieties like

F1 Sweet Million
Libi
Japanese Black Truffle

and limiting it to 2 plants just to be safe.

Cam, my advice is that they overstating their use, 3 is too much for what they would call a tomato.. if you are going to try it with regulars instead on minis   I would steer you off Jap Black tr.  Hearts toms often have very sparse wispy foliage that lookls like there is something wrong with it, this may be a problem as you may think it is the pouch.

Of course having said that an experiment is always worth it.

Blondkopfchen..stunning little yellow fruit would look great with your sweet Million

but you choose, I would love to see how it goes.

Good Luck

thanks as always :) Yes i agree they do try and push the mark sometimes.

I am thinking of sticking to the same varieties in each pouch just in case but thanks i will swap them out :)

It is just an experiment to see what might work could be fun :)
