Last trip to the vet..
« on: March 12, 2011, 09:42:58 »
Just made an appointment at the vet - we have to put our old girl (cat) down as she has acute renal failure...
40 mins to go..
She is 15 and has had a good illness free life so we are thankful for that but even though she really was the OH's moggie I am going to miss her like mad.  Its amazing what a hole they can leave in your life..
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

So sorry to read this - we've had to get our two euthanised because of renal failure, so know what you're feeling.

I am thinking of you today, my cat has renal failure and is fading away and we will be in the same position soon, it's really hard isn't it!

Oh dear..sorry to hear that..15 yrs is good life span and plenty of laughs to share...all good things come to an end eventually..
When my previous dog were suffering with same problem..the last day before the final final countdown I gave him all the lovely foody treats that he's been craving but not been allowed to have..and boy did he wolf them down...even when he was literally off from his legs..
But atleast he had good sent off..
Give yours plenty of stokes and cuddles..if it likes that sort of things ;)

I think you're giving your girl a final "gift"
making such decisions aren't easy, when we had our retrievers it was a decision we had to make twice. Years on we still miss them but caring for a pet includes what you've done today.
I'll be thinking of you

Thanks for all your kind words..
It's never an east thing to do and sharing it with others makes it more bareable.
I appear to have something in my eye or someone is cutting onions somewhere..

So sorry Nick, I know just how you feel even though it's over 20 years since we had to go through it with our lovely G.S.D.
We know it's the right thing to do, but it's still difficult.

Very difficult but it's best for them

We put ours amongst the fruit trees in the garden.

Know what you mean - I was heartbroken when I had to lose my Max at 17 - but it is the best thing for her.
