Frost damage
« on: January 13, 2005, 23:36:30 »
We have now had a couple of reasonably hard frosts in this part of Essex, which have knocked back my fushias and bananas, but I still have cerinthes growing strong!

As Tim has pointed out my forecast today will be yours in about a week EJ. Expect more frost in about 10 days, we will finally be having a cold snap early next week. So far this January our lows have been above the historical average highs for the month- our high today will happen in about 5 hours time, around midnight, when the temperature is expected to reach 15C after having been around freezing all day.

Same with me, plently of growth on the Cerinthes that self seeding back in the summer. Will have to pull up some later as they will be too crowded and are close to some aliums I want to do well.

My 10 day forecast here:

Indicates some more cold weather next weekend.

I am afraid my delphinium shoots took a turn for the worst this morning with the hard frosts we have had.  They have died, just as I was about to remember to cover them with a fleece ...  :'(  Hopefully they will grow again closer to springtime,

Enjoy today to the full.  You are not sure of a tomorrow.
