This was posted to me earlier...maybe not a bargain of the week but something interesting for those who like to 'collect' ::)

 ALFRISTON
Raised late 1700s by Mr Shepherd at Uckfield.   Named
Shepherd’s Pippin; renamed 1819 after being sent by Mr
Booker of Alfriston to London.  Bright green or greenish
yellow with red colouring in sun.  Cooking apple.
Pollination Group 2.  Medium vigour.  Pick early/middle
October. Rootstock M116 semi-dwarfing.

CRAWLEY BEAUTY
Found c1870 in garden at Tilgate, nr Crawley.  Introduced
1906 by J. Cheal nurseryman. Cooking apple that becomes
sweeter as it ripens.  Colour broken red stripes over pale
green/greenish yellow. Medium vigour. Spreading tree. Heavy
cropping.  Pick mid-Oct.  Store Nov- Feb. Pollination Group
7. Good for frost prone areas. Rootstock M111 quite vigorous
and good for poor soils

FIRST AND LAST
First described 1860.  Medium sized eating apple.  Colour of
skin dark red or green with red flush.  Flesh crisp,
greenish white, flavour sweet, Pollination group 3 Medium
vigour.  Rootstock M111 quite vigorous and good for poor
soils.

 MANNINGTONS PEARMAIN
Arose c1770 from cider pomace thrown under hedge in garden
of blacksmith, Mr Turley, Uckfield.  Sent 1847 to London
Horticultural Society by his grandson, John Mannington,
local butcher and keen fruitman.  Rich, aromatic, not
intensely so, but well balanced with definite nutty quality.
 Small tree.  Skin yellow flushed brownish red. Pollination
group 3. Medium vigour. Cropping good, Pick mid-Oct.  Store
Nov-Feb.  Rootstock M111 quite vigorous and good for poor
soils.
