SPAM help?
« on: November 02, 2010, 17:26:18 »
Windows 7 was starting to cope with Spam - then update introduced Live Mail -  & now, although every Spam is labelled as such, not one goes into the bin.

Ideas please??

("Spamfighter", which I had on old PC, is not compatible with Live Mail yet.)

Is this the new Windows Live 2011 - as opposed to hotmail (also called Live Mail)

If so there are two things to do

Check Safety Options - Home Tab - Junk - Click the the chevron under Junk - select Safety Options - Should be set to high although you can use a white List of safe senders if you wish to restrict to those you only want.  Note people in your contacts can be added automatically.
If they have a spam tag you could write a rule.  Folders Tab - Message Rules.  Use "Where the Subject line contains specific words" You can use "spam" if they are tagged. - Action - move to specified folder - click on Specified in blue and select Junk Folder..
You can of course mark mail as junk or block senders but as spammers use fake addresses this doesn't work well at times.

But you are not alone - there are a few posts from dissatisfied users around ..

Thanks a bundle, Nick - just great!!

Strange though. Mentioned Spamfighter - not compatible - but after noting what your twist had achieved this am, Spamfighter update appears - you have version 7.1.58, update to 7.1.99 - OK thanks - download - done, but no evidence of it anywhere??

Tim,

From their website...

After the latest update, my SPAMfighter has disappeared?

Please try this:

* Close your Email Client such as Outlook/Express/Windows Mail/Thunderbird
* Download and run this program http://download.spamfighter.com/download/remove.exe
* Restart your computer
* Don't open your Email Client!
* Delete the SPAMfighter folder from C:\Program Files\
* Download and install the newest SPAMfighter from here - http://download.spamfighter.com/download/pro/spamfighter.exe

The remove.exe file will remove your settings and the black/whitelist you might have.

But If Spamfilter is not compatible I would remove it completely - it may even be a cause of your issues!
