Chilli I grew from a cutting
« on: September 06, 2010, 18:57:22 »
I took a cutting from one of these, given to me by my Bangladeshi friends last year

This is it today, looking much better than the parent plant which grew much too tall for my kitchen windowsill.

I don't know if it's possible to take cuttings from all varieties, but it's worth a try

edit - sorry, messed up the photos.
I took the cutting from one of the tall ones on the windowsill.

Is that a black chilli, or is it just a trick of the light ?

No, not a trick of the light, it is a very dark purpley black.

I was really hoping to be able to take cuttings from my rocoto (C.pubescens) type to overwinter but so far complete failure.

It's getting a bit late to try layering - has anyone else found this or anything else helps?

Cheers.

With a microholding you always get too much or bugger-all. (I'm fed up calling it an allotment garden - it just encourages the tidy-police).

The simple/complex split is more & more important: Simple fertilisers Poor, complex ones Good. Simple (old) poisons predictable, others (new) the opposite.
