Sowing Now
« on: September 10, 2003, 14:56:07 »
We have just taken over an allotment which is a blank canvas.  I have bought some winter onion sets to get going with and have heard of other things that can be sown now.......certain brassica's, hardy carrotts etc.

Can anyone advise what can be sown now specifically what varities as well, we have loads of space as it is a fairly big plot.
???

Hiya,  :)

have a look on the web. eg, http://www.keirg.freeserve.co.uk has a very good little calendar.

I'm asssuming your ground is weed free, as I spent my first winter just cleaning it thoroughly.  The best thing I ever did!  :D

Depends where you are and how bad your winters are, but spring cabbage will definitely be ok. Get some seeds in as soon as possible and then plant them out in october. You could plant some garlic too.
