Are these potatoes okay to eat?
« on: June 08, 2010, 18:01:43 »
I removed a tarpoline from one of my beds. Underneath was lots of potatoes growing from last years crop. There were so many, they had grown in rows.
When I dug them up the potatoes looked good. I peeled them and cut them up for boiling. They looked a bit transparent, not like potatoes usually look. I boiled them but they took ages. I used them and they seemed okay. Would they haqve been okay or not?Should I destroy the rest of the old crop?

Some people call these volunteers, they grow from spuds left in the ground.

As long as they are not green, poison potatoes are green ones they probably will not harm you but most people dig them out. :)

They are perfectly fine. Eat and enjoy.
