Lasagna anyone?!!
« on: December 01, 2004, 15:38:59 »

Spent a day last week making a lasagna bed, had read up on it and thought why not give it a go on my bad clay/sandstone bed, can only improve it! Interested to see what it will be like next year ;D Once I had dug out the bed, (you apparently don't have to) and had everything to hand, it was a fast job, and definately felt like I was cooking ;D

I dug out the bed first,The layers are, wet newspapers on the bottom, then layer of manure, then layer of clayey soil, then straw, then more soil, then chopped up leaves/grass clippings, then yes you guessed it more soil, (thought it was too nutritious to waste!) then topped the lot with more manure. Lucky it didn't have to be baked at Gas 4, my ovens not big enough!
For anyone interested this is where I was reading that got me thinking, the music is BAD though!

If it works and breaks down in time, it will be for my squash frames Sarah.
