Cheat's "pie"
« on: April 24, 2010, 07:52:20 »
This is what I do for to use up some berries etc.

Shop bought ready made pie case... :o ::)..just cheap will do...
What ever in season..like now rhubarb..chopped in small chunks.."thrown" in..
Mixture of creme fresh, sugar, vanilla and couple of egg yolks poured on..into oven...low themperature untill set and few golden spots on surface..out of oven..cool down, if time and patience for it...glass of milk to fush it down ..and off to lottie again...
Now this works lovely with most of the fruit and berries,,
With apples I add cinnamon and brown sugar instead of white..
Good way to use up those jams..
Preparation time...few minutes...satisfaction..great!
If I really feel up to it then I might make efford to do own pastry.
