Just thought I would update you on this - well, now of course just to annoy me, the seeds I sowed have actually sprouted this time and the tiny onions are growing, despite our current hot dry period. I am watering them every couple of days.
I transplanted a whole heap of seedlings from mdoules, fiendishly difficult to  plant as they were still quite small and now I don't know if they are thriving or not, they are still green in the middle but some of the tips seems quite shrivelled, is that normal?

In the meantime, it seems that the best way for me to grow leeks from seed is in a sheltered coldframe, I sowed some a few weeks ago and they are looking much better than the ones I started indoors and are now in a pot in the open. A very experimental period for me in the garden, as you can see!!!  ;)
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Planting? The whole module? Should be easy.

I saw this on a plotholders blog and have it saved in my to do list....  Similar to some previous suggestions but in smaller numbers and more room in each module

Those onions and shallots that I grow from seed, are all multisown in cells and the cells planted out at 15cm centers. It works so well as they just push each other apart as they grow. See this page on shallots:- http://www.growyourown.info/page122.html

Well, I have to rethink this whole thing. I will try again in really compact compost and see if I can't get bunches going. I guess I can keep sowing now for harvesting throughout the summer???
