YES!!!! It's finished
« on: April 02, 2010, 02:19:56 »
After 3 days of finishing work at 7am and spending 4-5hours over the plot in the rain >:( I have finaly finished my Asparugus bed. It's 20' x 3' and I have 10 crowns coming next week from kent-asparugus. :)
It took so long because of the 4-6 layers of carpet plus wood, plastic and glass then heavy wet clay. :o

I was planing on a single line and might extend the bed a little bit longer to give wider spacing. what do you think?

Neil my UK bed was 4 foot x 22 foot , raised up a foot, and I think I had 24 plants in it. I did have a double row though.  It grew very well by the way, never any trouble. Good Luck I am green with envy.

How many years did you have them planted and was there enough room? I thought i would do a wide bed to give plenty of room for future years.

Do you think that they have enough room or wished you had planted them further apart between rows?

I would rather spend a bit more time extending the bed now, than wished i had done it a few years later.

Reckon you should be ok with what you've got there, 10 crowns in a 20ft length sounds fine to me.

they have plenty of room for expansion. your plan of 10 crowns in 20 foot is ample, but by making bed a foot wider (4 ft) you could get 30 crowns in ( we love asparagus)
