Summer fruiting raspsberries.
« on: March 18, 2010, 12:37:47 »
Last year I forgot to cut back the old stems of my summer fruiting after harvesting. So I'm not sure what to do about it. Any ideas??

If you can still tell new from old, I would cut back the old stems now.
If not, then leave them be, and then cut them back after the next harvest.
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

You should be able to tell the old canes by the rougher bark, branches, and the small remnants of the fruiting bunches on the stems of the old canes.

I helped one of my neighbours with their canes  last week.
