I have access to lots of 16L plastic buckets that have held veg oil in them.
Ideas for the best use for them most welcome. ;D

Have you a photo?

Are you talking about the sort of thing that looks like the container that chicken pellets come in, with a lid and carry handle?

Store bonfire ash or anything similar. Fill them with sand and store roots in them over winter. Use them generally as buckets.

I currently have one that is 3/4 full if disinfectant. When I plant seeds, the pots/trays ect get a rince and then a short soak in this bucket, and then the lid goes on keeping the contents safe till next use.
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

Place them around the plot to collect rainwater- saves carrying water from your tap or butts. Put a brick in each to stop them blowing away until it rains.

I like the soaking feet idea best  ;D but it would have to be my own  ;)

But other than that you could cut the bottoms off and use them as part of ring culture (but not sure if they would be too big) or collect your veggie scraps for the compost heap, or as others have said plant pots  ;)

well...I would, and as matter I do...use them to empty spent compost eg, from cuttings, seedlings, from last years plants and then I apply fertilizer etc. what each crop needs...potatoes, carrots, peas etc... almost anything and and started extra early in greenhouses. And when weather picks up you just lift them outside to release the greenhouse room and I don't just  do edibles...chrysants, carnations... my buckets been great success...just don't forget make holes into bottom ;D

Thanks guys,some great ideas.
I work in a kitchen and we have so many things we don't recycle.
I can't bear to see them thrown away and have to collect them and find a use for them.
Me thinks I will put a few on my plot so any fellow plotholders can help themselves if they will find a use for them.
Do you think they would be o.k for forcing rhubarb or will they let the light in?

They would let light in, unless you use sacking or paper to as a extra..mind though they might not be tall enough.. but hey, You can only try ..does it matter if you rhubarb stalks are not straight?

Invert them over precious tatties if there's a late frost and they are too big to earth up.
