Spirng Lambs
« on: February 26, 2010, 20:48:25 »
Went up to the farm today and there were the frist few lambs.  Now I know that spring is in the air.  Unfortunately it will be sometime before they can get out in the fields it has been so cold there is no goodness for them to eat out there.

Having lived in the agricultural Fens for 37 years I still miss the thrill of seeing the new born lambs when we lived in East Sussex. Any pics please?

I know what you mean Lorna, they always remind me of going to Wales to see my grandparents (former farmers) and the lambs in the fields were a great sight  :)

And E Sussex - they weren't Romney Marsh lambs were they?

OOH! Thank you Digeroo and gardentg44

1066 We actually lived in a delightful village Mayfield. We kept a few sheep, bullocks and chickens on our 4.1/2 acres. Yes, have seen load of lambs on Romney Marsh. My husband used to cut and supply garden turf all over East Sussex and he cut many an acre of turf on Romney Marsh. Happy days!!

They have lambing days at Sparsholt College, but it's usually the same weekend we go to Whitchurch to the potato day, so have only made it there once.  It's lovely to see the new-borns and their mums.

Sounds like my mother.  She always saw lambs and said 'Oh look! dinner!'.

Its a lovely place isn't it between Rye and Winchelsea - must get out that way soon

And yes I get my MINT SAUCE shouting habit from my parents  ;D Who'd have thought something so cute could be so tasty  :-X
