Going for a Song - Arthur Negus
« on: February 23, 2010, 21:35:57 »
Don't ask why or how, but at work today the subject of Arthur Negus and 'Going for a Song' came up.

This resulted in a long discussion about the 'bird in the cage'  -  differing opinions were given over whether the automaton was a nightingale or a minor bird - other suggestions as to the bird's species were given.    (Younger people looked on with puzzlement...............)

Finally can anyone confirm the song that the birdie sings.    Was it 'The birds' by some italian (Respighi????) or something else?

Does anyone else remember this series?
