Spring Must be Coming the Frogs are at It
« on: February 16, 2010, 22:13:20 »
Yes I looked out of the window at my small garden pond to find the frogs all piled up  ;D They produced a lot of spawn which came to nothing last year so I am hoping for the usual amount of little frogs (1000's) this summer

Here's the ones we found whilst clearing the garden on Sunday!

They are frogs I s'pose, not toads?

They are frogs cuz they are smooth. I'v always felt amazed that they come in so many shades of brown and green and then I read that they can change slightly to fit their surroundings

We had an almost black frog in the garden.  I rescued a number of toads from the middle of a very busy main road a relocated them to my garden so I am very much hoping some of them are still there and ready for slug eating duties.

I am a bit concerned that since I moved them they will not know how to get back to their birth lake.  However since it is relatively new being a reclaimed gravel working, it would be interesting to know how they started using it in the first place.  Anyway whichever way they go from my garden sooner or later they will hit water.

A peach colored frog! That's new. I wouldn't know what color ours are this year since the pond is under a foot of snow still.
