New to growing potatoes
«

Hi
I'm new to growing potatoes. I live in Warwickshire and was wondering if now is the time to start chitting potatoes? I have a variey of earlies and maincrop. Do i start chitting them altogether? Or do i start the earlies first and wait to chit the maincrop? I'm a little unsure.
Any advice i would be grateful for.

Black cat
hello and a warm welcome!
As
Duke
says chit them all now. Put them in egg boxes in a light, frost-free room.
Plant the earlies out in late March/early April and the maincrop ones mid-late April. The time between planting and lifting varies between 13 weeks for earlies and 22 weeks for maincrop ones.

Please don't be offended by my nickname 'Mortality'
As to its history it was the name of a character I played in an online game called 'Everquest'
The character 'Mortality Rate' was a female Dark Elf Necromancer, the name seemed apt at the time and has been used alot by me over the years.
