About time!  Same thing really - my neighbour won't want theres, and as I have 2 home made jobees in the garden and 1 home made one at the lottie - this at least would provide me with a heap right up the other end of the plot, save me dragging all the weeds etc down there.....not that I am lazy of anything..... ;D

So, it's not along the lines of the blue paper recycling bins, then? :( I'm going to have to get in touch with my council for a reduced price compost bin, although I think they should be free, because the more one composts, the less the council have to pay for landfill or incineration!! Sorry a bit high horse there, but you must know what I mean!!
Love, Palefire

'bit - high - horse' ?

Nothing to do with recycling, but I just have to pick up on that one.

Our cousin was today hit (in her car) by a (high) police horse, which had been bitten (not nicely) - in all the wrong parts - by pit bulls, thrown its policewoman and gone berserk.

Not sure where that takes us - but......? - Tim

Don`t all get too excited.  The bins will probably be like the ones issued by our Council 4 or 5 years ago - cheap and nasty little plastic things which hold about 4 bucketsful of stuff, the lid blows away every time the wind blows (I can`t weight it down because it`s domed) and it falls over every time I try to get anything out of it.  The only time it`s used is when all my other bins are full, and then never for long.

And no doubt Gordon Brown will find a way of making us pay through the nose for them, wanted or not.

We recycle everything almost! I have bins everywhere 1 for paper, 1 for green waste including cardboard, 1 for regular waste. This is all picked up, after being sorted by me, now I do not mind, BUT there is talk afoot of yet another council tax hike!!!  Plus no mention of how we get our hands on the compost we are contributing to.............. oh and we also recycle glass, (lots of those in our house in the form of wine bottles.opps!) and we can recycle plastic, but the last 2 we have to drive to a centre to drop em off. Which we do, but many do not!! I love the fact we do this, but wonder why my taxes are so high when we are doing most of the work! Sorry a little gripe there  :-/

Hi Doris, I was beginning to think everyone else had gone to bed.  The answer to your question is that old Gordon (Brown) is a cunning devil - he gets us to do all the work and then charges us for the privilege. And don`t forget his latest wheeze - as well as constantly increasing the tax on petrol he wants to have little gadgets installed in every car so that he can charge us by the mile for using the roads at all. So you`ll paid annual road tax for the car, plus all that tax on the petrol, then more tax for taking the car out on the road. Still, someone`s got to pay for all those extra policemen we never see, and all those wonderful improvements in the health service, and the railways, and the 20,000 teachers that have been made redundant because of the shortfall in schools funding.

Definate teacher shortage round here Hugh, when my youngest left primary in September, her last class had nearly 40 kids in it...(I would hate to teach that!) They are now combining classes around here, 2  different years in one, because of the shortages. :o I know a couple of teachers and it seems to be too much admin as per usual, not enough teaching!  DP
