Anybody got this book: Forgotton Skills Of Cooking
« on: November 14, 2009, 09:25:17 »
I cam across this book supposedly about old style cooking etc.  Just wondering if it is any good for useful old hints and tips or is it predominantly recipes?  Anybody got this book?  Is it any good?

the review of it from the link you gave states there are 700 recipes and you'd think the title said it all, this might help

The book was only published 2 days before you originally asked the question it's a bit early for reviews yet.
Darina Allen is very well known, she has run the Ballymaloe cookery school in Ireland since 1983 formerly with her husband Tim although he withdrew his involvement with the business in 2003 when he became a convicted paedophile. Her daughter Rachel is a well known tv chef & her brother & her mother in law are both very well known chefs so there is plenty of experience within the family therefore the book should contain some worthwhile recipes.

There is a newspaper article about the book here:
