Borlotti bean varieties/suppliers
« on: September 11, 2009, 22:08:10 »
Next year I want to grow more borlotti beans for eating fresh and for drying.
Does anyone have any recommendations for varieties and suppliers - this year I used seeds from the Thompson &Morgan Italian collection, but haven't been too impressed.

There's def. a dwarf as well as a climber... as I found out last year with a wigwam and no "growth"... :-[

Try Seeds of Italy, they have a good range (10 varieties) at reasonable prices.  I can also recommennd them as a good supplier.

I`ve always been pleased with `Lingua di Fuoco`

Available from a number of suppliers.

I find T&M expensive

Seconded.... I grew Lingua di Fuoco this year and it did OK for me even in non-ideal conditions.... and the beans taste great. Next  year it gets a full double-row of canes and some attention......

beware of both bunnies and slugs eating the foliage  until it gets too tall for them.....
