Well we are waiting for the results to be issued. Today is the day that we find out whether all that hard work was good or all for nothing. My son is waiting here with baited breath to find out if he can go to Uni or not. Hope that he does ok and gets in. We shall know in a while when he gets back from the school to let me know and I can let everyone else know too.

Good luck to your son. A little while ago I saw some students on TV having their results read out. One poor lad's blood pressure went up when he was waiting. Fortunately he had brilliant results.

A's were last year for eldest... next week is GCSE for littleo one... fingers crossed for yours and mine... :-X

Takes me back to how I felt waiting for exam results, stomach churning, hands shaking....... I always reckoned I hated getting the results more than actually sitting the exams ::) Weird I know!

OMG! Had a very stressful morning! Son didn't get quite the results he was hoping for.....his Dad...my ex refusing to fund him if too low. However after phoning and phoning he got into his first Uni choice without even begging!
Still can't quite believe it.

Not sure about something posh and fizzy though....he's lucky again just!

To be fair he has Asperger's Syndrome and hasn't had any help with it at all, not even a lot of understanding from most of the teacher's.....or his Dad in fact.

His Tech project was excellent and we were not worried about that mark at all.....though if he'd done as well in the exam as last year he would have had an A but a B is good. When he started the course he was predicted an 'E'. Just shows you the statistics are not always right.

The 'predictions' are based on the average (mean) performance of the group of students (nationwide) from the year before. They look at their GCSE score and their A level performance. There is a good correlation between GCSE and A level performance, but many factors affect success. I don't think it is unusal for a young person with aspergers to exceed their target grades by a long way. From my experience, and every person is different, kids with aspergers tend to get really good grades in some subjects and not so good grades in other. Their 'average' GCSE score can then end up quite low hence the low target for A level performance. If they can find the subjects they enjoy then at AS they do really well :)

There are VERY VERY few people that achieve a performance at grade B, from a target grade of E. So celebrate hard tonight and look foward to the future

Well done Kea's son & Landimad's son. What a great way to celebrate with a cuppa. My favourite tipple too but mines a rooibosh as I can't have much caffiene either. Big treat tomorrow as we are going to see daughter no2 & she has a built in coffee machine & it makes me the mildest cup of coffee. Lovely, then we will spend the day making cakes for the village do.

Thanks Sparkly for your comments. You are absolutely right about someone with Asperger's, I have always told his teachers to expect the unexpected. But they are so quick to write him off because he doesn't fit that normal curve...he's an outlier in every sense. Einstein supposedly failed maths and it's thought he had Asperger's too.
