You're ahead of us- we only had a few flakes of snow so far.
Have been eating our lettuce and the last of the tomatoes. And butternut squash pies for Thanksgiving.

What are collards Betty?
I had Celeriac & Stilton soup followed by Leek,Courgette (out of freezer) & spinach Tian (think thats how its spelt?)served with pasta & broccoli in a bousin sauce mmmmm' lovely

Collards are a type of cabbage and grow very easily for me.  So easily that I didn't even plant any this year, they just seeded themselves!  I'd forgotten how much my husband likes them so I will grow more next year.

Found this photo of collards, taken last October.

Actually, I forgot- we had Gilfeather turnips from john_miller's garden in Vermont. He sent us a box with that Vermont heirloom turnip/rutabaga in it and they were so mild they tasted like cauliflower when boiled and we also tried them raw and found them sweet!  Definitely something to grow next year.
One of the Vermont towns has a yearly Gilfeather festival.
Thanks again, John. :D

It's more of a confession than a boast about produce, but I have a small plate of sliced radish and carrot every evening. I know most people like chocolate or biscuits or something. OH thinks I'm mad.

Well anyway, you can't grow biscuits at the allotment.

Strangely I don't think I've eaten anything from the allotment today... we even had rice for tea. Ahh... the chilli powder was from the lottie!!  ;D

The very very last of the cherry tomatoes from the green house, picket about seven days ago before the great frost and snow. Every year we try to eat our last in early December. It has become a ritual as is the very first new potatoes in early July. I ate them on a sandwich with a shop bought cucumber and salt and vinegar, delicious.

chunky allotment soup is staple fare in this weather. It includes ... potatoes, carrot, celery, butternut squash and borlotti beans

A Tondo Chiaro di Nizza the size of a bowls ball that I picked in October, as it had been hiding from me under the leaves  ::) It was put aside with the pumpkins under the stairs and forgotten about (I'd have thought it would have been mush by now!)  Stuffed with savoury mince spiced up with a couple of peppers. It was nice to remember a taste of summer :)

Ninny

PS - Must remember to try that again next year!

All I can report is potatoes from garage. Grew far too many Sarpos and only hope we can eat them all by, say, next June. I have leeks, red cabbage, green cabbage, sprouts, parsnips at allotment, but cannot get there.
