Hot compost query
« on: November 06, 2003, 00:49:03 »
I know we are not supposed to put diseased things etc on compost heaps. However if its possible to get hold of really fresh hot manure would this help to kill stuff like rust ( the sort you get on leeks). And if so how long would it take to kill nasties ?
I wouldnt want to spread evil things all over the place when its taken months to clear it.

Hi I tend to burn the nastys and add the ash to the ground. You might not get the compost hot enough to kill the spores might just spread them?

Got to go with Teresa here.

I never, never put suspect stuff on my heaps....it's just not worth it.  Seriously...don't.
