aubergine ripeness
« on: July 21, 2009, 12:59:32 »
when are aubergines ready? I'm never sure when to pick them for their best - if I leave them too long, will they go woody like a bean might, or squidgy like a tomato? I'm growing Black Beauty, with one Long Purple (from Saddad's sale, growing beautifully, thanks!)

Unless you want them for seed, before the "bloom" goes... IE while still shiny. Glad they are doing well for you.  :)

Thanks Saddad. I know exactly what you mean - so long as the first inspection just after the bloom has gone will do!
