Double buggies are a right pain in the ****, I do not have any fond memorires at all of them  ::).

Some tips .... Though I guess it depends on the age of the occupants.
and how far you have to travel with them. Baby carriers are great, esp the ones that go on your back for the older ones. You can take them off and kind of prop them up til you get sorted.

Could you find an old playpen to keep up the plot, if they are at the adventurous crawling (suicidal) stage. Am sure one person on here made a play pen type area from straw bales, which always struck me as a genius solution.

Smile at your enemies.

It makes them wonder what you are up to.

Some people are just so dammed judgemental on here today!! Jeeze get a life!!

You have no idea what Brownowl is capable of as regards to pushing or pulling a double buggy. You don't know if she is 6 stone dripping wet  and 5'1"and the kids are 2 stone each.

You have no idea if she has to get to her plot uphill.

You have no idea if the only times she can go to the plot is on the weekends, say 3 hours on Sat and/or Sun. Not everyone can get to their plot everday.

I got bullied on my plot by the 'flat cap' brigade IE my way or the highway, it seems that attitude has leached onto here when a new member asks a reasonable question that is affecting her ability to work her plot.
Perhaps she needed that information so that she would feel confident to approach her neighbour plotholder or the owner of the plots without stirring up bad feeling between them.

Next time please think and think again about how your replies come across on here and each to his/her own.

Well said Ishard - Some people dont seem to know how to proport themsleves without resorting to insult instead of welcoming new users and offering useful help and advise.  I ignore them on my site and I do the same here.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

We have a family on our site with 3 children, the eldest is just 3. Mum came today & left the little ones in the car where she could see them, while she picked raspberries. I offered to help her so she could get done quickly. Lots of people on our site help each other & are very generous. I came home today with some red gooseberries & when I asked for a cutting the gent said I can have the bush when it's time to move. Someone else gave me a cabbage. What goes round comes round ;).

On my site the lane is the width of a cart plus a bit. Seriously; passing places marked on 19th-Century maps are still there. I'd have thought a wheelbarrow width would be reasonable for a more typical site, with main paths wide enough for a vehicle when strictly necessary. I can imagine the problems which could arise with a double buggy! I'd suggest putting the kids in the wheelbarrow. If they're big enough to sit in a buggy they'd probably love it.

Our daughter had twins and a side by side buggy and she couldn't get it up the paths. We built her a corrall out of straw bales so the she could take them up and let them play in there with her other 3 year old. They could see her and she could see them so they were safe and happy. The buggy stayed at the front of the plot. It's difficult when you have little uns but I'm sure you will find a way. Anyway welcome to the  site Brownowl.
When I get old I don't want people thinking

Well I would welcome you Brownowl but with some of the idiots on here I doubt whether she'll show her face again, lets hope so though, as said two foot or enough room to turn a wheelbarrow.      :-X    ;D ;D ;D

Yes how rude of me Welcome to the site brownowl  :-*
I don't know if any one has read brownowls post but I do believe she asked for opinions and not everyone on here has a snowy white opinion and if that makes them judgemental or an idiot  then tough to the rest of you,its quite obvious the paths on that site haven't been made with a double buggy in mind nor do I believe it will be brought up at any meeting asking them to be made wider for the purpose of.Like Eristic said you can't  use it as an excuse not to cultivate the land by a certain time set by the council especially when you have been there for the past 8 weeks picking fruit it don't make sense, everyone who takes on an allotment finds out how hard it is to get it established  and we all have life's handy caps to hinder us,we just have to soldier on.

Hi Barnowl, welcome to A4A.  1' wide is way to narrow, but it's down to you to make them wider.
