Adding chickens
« on: July 10, 2009, 07:41:02 »
We have got 2 chickens which we received the other day, and LOVE! Why we waited so long to get chickens is a mystery to me!

Anyway, these 2 chickens are just about 6 weeks old. We would like to add another chicken soon, one that is already laying, and then after that a couple of battery hens from a rescue.

What is the advisable way of adding these chickens into the coop and run? How long do I have to wait to add chickens to my 2 little ones now?

I would say 12-18 weeks depending on the breed as long as the little ones can look after themselfves and run out of harms way ( older hens pecking)
