still able to sow courgettes and water storage stuff?!
« on: July 07, 2009, 17:27:24 »
I'm a bit behind at the lotty. Can I still sow a courgette plant?

Also, I'm going away for a few weeks. A neighbour is watering at weekends. Has anyone got tips for keeping stuff well-watered, esp tomaotes and squashes? I don't want them to die!

it means you can have a SENSIBLE amount of courgettes over a LONG time, instead of a CRAZY amount of cougettes at the SAME time  :D

upside down 2lt coke bottles with drizzel lids on them will help but not sure if will last a few weeks think bigger connect water but via the tab cranked open a little to a pipe network to run to the bottles topping these up slowly mmmm
that will work

I was going to post
"that's really good to know about sowing courgettes now",  :)
then I thought
"is it!",  ???
and then decided that I only felt like this because I have only had 2 courgettes so far this year.
Considering that I have about 12 plants at the moment, it is not something that is good for me to know!! No matter how tempting!  :o
But on the other hand, it is probably very good to know, for those that haven't planted yet  ;D

I'm sure all courgettes are pretty much the same. Maybe apart from those funny flat ones I don't grow. I love Striato d'Italia (sp) Could give you some seeds or some plants

As the summer goes on, there's a lot more disease about like mildew etc. Having young and vigorous plants growing *may* give you an extra few weeks of picking

How about butternut squash? I have some little seedlings and I wonder if they will crop if I plant them tomorrow?
