Which HEAVY DUTY / INDUSTRIAL Strimmer?
« on: June 27, 2009, 13:56:21 »
I need to choose a heavy duty industrial type petrol strimmer for our 2 allotment sites.  It would be used for doing paths and clearing overgrown plots prior to being allocated to newbies. Total site areas cover over 140 plots.

Strimmer requirements:

Ideally 4 stroke but 2 stroke if I must
Automatic feed
Steel cutting blade
Harness.
£200 - £400 Maximum

I have looked at 2 from B&Q but do not really know anything about them.  I am to have the final 3 for our Town Council Meeting this coming Wednesday.  Any ideas and suggestions welcome.

What a great site you have and a lovely idea :)

OK well for starters for those ones in B&Q for the money I would personally want a much better make than Mountfield so this is what I would recc:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Makita-Petrol-4-Stroke-Brushcutter-EM4340L_W0QQitemZ360057844819QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Home_Garden_GardenPowerTools_CA?hash=item53d51eb453&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A3|66%3A2|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A2|294%3A50

Makita is a fantastic make up there with the likes of DeWalt etc etc and this is a really nice strimmer looking at it, or another alternative would be a Sthil again great make, for this kind of money you want something thats going to really last well with little problems Mountfield Im just not sure about :(

might be worth having a look here, i've just bought a 40cc one for £103.00 inc delivery and it's over £200.00 everwhere else.
