New Allotment Blues!!
« on: September 30, 2004, 16:20:08 »
Hi all!!  :D

Sorry to be a pain but your advice and help is needed!  ???

I have signed an  agreement for a specific plot on my local allotment which commences on 1st October. This allotment is run by the local council who have agreed to cut down the undergrowth etc and rotavate the plot free of charge. (Not sure if this is a good thing as it may spread roots of weeds etc.)

I had an e-mail this week saying that when the operative visited site to clear the plot it is now being used by someone else (This was unknown to the council.)

Does anyone know how I stand on this matter i.e is the plot mine as i signed the agreement or will i have to find another plot!!  ::)

The allotments officer from the council is visiting the site this Monday!!

Oh how horrid - I am so sorry. I'm sure some one who knows about these things will be along soon. You must have been so excited, and then felt all let down. Big hug for now, and I am sure it will all get sorted out by the allotment person on Monday.

That must have been so disappointing NM. This sounds like gross inefficiency on somebody's part, as there should be no doubt about who has tenancy of a particular plot.  Surely if you have signed a Tenancy Agreement and paid your yearly fee, they will  be duty bound to supply you with a Plot of some sort. Hope things become clearer when you see the Allotment Officer, hope he is feeling very shame faced! That is really shabby!  :( busy_lizzie

Hope all goes well for tomorrow.
Could be they went to rotervate the wrong lottie.
Or like ours someone will take over a lottie untill a new owner is found just to keep it ticking over.
Cyber hugs for tomorrow

Hi all!!

Well I visited the allotment site yesterday and my chosen lottie plot was still there overgrown and no-one working on it!!!

Either the operative cannot read his plan or I have chosen the wrong plot number - But I think everything should be alright!!

I haven't heard from the allotment officer yet!!!

 Nobby ::)

Excellent news Nobby, well done!  Have a great time this weekend (and lucky you for finding so much free manure - having no luck at my plot!)

That's your way of life changed now!!  You'll check the weather, you'll keep old clothes, you'll have to constantly check your fingernails, you'll have strange sunburnt patches, you'll criticise veggies and fruit in the stores and restaurants ... you'll become an allotmenteer...  ::);D
