Picked a few more today... Sixth bag like that so far, still with no end in sight.

Wow - what a lovely crop.  Just wondering though how everyone finds their strawberries keep?  I have found that mine really are beginning to loose their freshness within an hour or so of picking.  I know they are never going to keep as long as the sprayed shop bought ones but it seems that this year they are just not lasting long enough to eat them fresh!
http://ihateworms.blogspot.com/  - Why then do I so want an allotment?

Bloody Hell - You are having a good year!
How much space have you got planted with strawbs - I can't seem to get a decent crop to save my life.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

I've been picking about 40, from 8 plants, every couple of days for over a week now with lots more to come.

I started with a dozen plants 3 seasons ago. They multiplied into 5 dozen which again multiplied into about 150 plants that I have now. 100 of which are going to be replaced with fresh runners as soon as they finish fruiting... And not quite so many this time!

Don't do what I did last year. I went away for 6 weeks and left them to their own devices. With so many runners running riot they all matted together, pretty much the same as you'd want a nice tightly knitted lawn. I think that's probably why I have so many this year and the reason I'm going to rip most of them up and restore some type or order amongst the ranks.
