squash....or too squashed?

I have seen sites where folk are successfully growing trailing squash in coldframes of 4 by 2 foot spaces. Do you think I can grow one squash in a 3 foot wide by 3 foot high by 2 and 3 inch deep plastic square cloche.....or is this too squished?

depends on the squash, if you can grow it up a trellis or similar, we allow 3x3 for our plants, it's the trailing that need the room :)

Sorry, me being vague doesnt help...some folk seem to trail them around squash houses/cloches like
http://www.allaboutliverpool.com/allaboutallotments_Vegetables_squash_butternut.html
(that site shows 4 by 8 for two plants, where I'm thinking 3 by 2 for one plant?)
