Fountain in wrong place?
« on: May 26, 2009, 05:13:54 »
Previous house owner stuck a small fountain in the middle of grass. Grass grows into it all the time and the cable keeps getting dug up from the flower bed. Dont want to get electrocuted...might put it on the patio surrounded by more beach pebbles?

Any ideas?

Gen in Northumberland (garden full of apple blossom and bumble bees!)
No allotment but medium sized garden with greenhouse, small-ish raised veggie plot and little shed.....my little kingdom:-)

could you put a border of landscape fabric around it to stop the ingress of grass? ;)
You couldn't make it up!

How about starting again,  perhaps a raised fountain so it's well off the grownd and

getting the cable buried deeper and in conduit will make things a lot safer.

Love the sound of water in the garden, would be a shame not find the right place for

it, you have all the eguipment and pumps etc are not cheap.

As tonybloke suggested,  porous membrane under pavers or stones will keep grass away.

  Have fun  and enjoy,

If it were mine I'd position it close to where I could sit and watch it, And raise it up so birds feel safe drinking and bathing. A favorite one we saw was in Old Town in San Diego, a multi-level affair with water spilling from basin to basin and the birds absolutely flocked to it.
A whole lotta chirpin' goin' on!
