BBC 2 Food Programme looking for Broad Bean Growers
« on: May 18, 2009, 12:29:28 »
Hello One an all great forums!
I am a researcher working on a BBC2 programme called What To Eat Now. The programme is a celebration of seasonal food in the UK. We are currently putting together the Summer series of the programme.
I am on the look out for passionate foodie's in partiuclar people who grow there own broad beans and cook with them.
We are keen to feature as diverse a range of cooking as possible. It has come ot our attention that Braod beans are very common place in a number of Egyptian dishes. As such I would really value the chance to speak to any Eygptians whom are enthusiatic vegetable growers, specifically of broad beans.
If you are interested in the programme/think you may fit the bill please get in touch. The more people that hear about the project the better.

Thanks for your time,

Kind regards,

Tom Wilde

My other half is Anthony but I'm afraid I am not Cleopatra. We are just an old English couple that love growing and eating broad beans especially with new potatoes and bacon
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I blend them up and use them to add body to whatever I'm cooking. If I do anything else I get moans. 'I don't like those beans!"

I was born in Egypt, but sorry, no fancy Egyptian recipes - we just cook 'em or add them to stews.  :) :) :)

LOL Shirl  ;D

Nice idea for a programme tho. Not egyptian, more turkish/greek - Blanch the beans, drain then add feta, olive oil, lemon and any herbs you fancy. Also add fresh peas in
Am growing mine with summer savory this year (1st time I've tried it) so will be thinking of recipies to include it
