Roses from Seed
« on: May 10, 2009, 08:34:17 »
I bought my mum one of the name your own rose kits for christmas.  She sowed the seeds about a month ago and one little seedling has popped up (I think she sowed them in garden soil rather than compost so not sure she will be getting any more!). She has asked me to look after it for her as they are off on holiday for 7 weeks.

It is still in its little seed tray module.  Shall I prick it out?  Do they need anything special?

Yes, prick it out. Treat it like any other baby shrub, nothing special.

Feeling very proud of myself as 2 more little baby Grace Ellen's (which will be their new name when mum sends off the form) are through!  Apparently it is John Innes peat free that they were sown in!
