Aniseed rat poison
« on: May 01, 2009, 17:37:01 »
I did a rat job last week where the customer had "had a go himself". As I walked through the alley into the communal back garden someone leant out of an upstairs window and shouted "the bloke next door's feeding the bloody rats". A closer inspection revealed that he was feeding them by scattering whole wheat bait all over the garden, some in piles on the ground, some on the bird feeder, some just scatterd loosely around on the garden. So my question is what is the bait and is it amateur use? It is red whole wheat with a strong aniseed smell (I didn't taste it). I cleared it up as best I could and left instructions not to put anymore out. I don't know how many birds he'd killed, he'd been baiting for a week apparently . A good example of the futility of tightening label restrictions when idiots like that have access to poison and don't realise its potential.

Small birds can't manage whole wheat. Pigeons will, but good riddance to them! I wonder whether he killed any birds other than flying rats.

Not so sure about that, the sparrows seem to manage what I chuck on the table for them, and that's mostly wheat.
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.
