new gooseberry plants
« on: April 28, 2009, 11:13:26 »
Ive been given some new gooseberry plants, which my friend grew from cuttings.  I have 4, and they are about 4-5 inches high showing leave, and blossomy things.  When and how should these be planted out on my windy |Cornish hillside, and do I need to manure first.  When will I get fruit?  Thanks in advance folks, I KNOW there is someone out there with the answer.

Regards, Caro

I would put them in now. Try to give them a little shelter if you can, but dont worry to much. Make a hole, add some manure and pop them in. If as you say, they already have the flowers on you may get a few, but dont hold your breath, there might not be enough for a crumble ;D
