how much warmer is a greenhouse?
« on: April 25, 2009, 17:54:40 »
I have one of there three tier small greenhouses covered in plastic. How much warmer will this keep plants?

I have things which need to go out (like my squash!) but it is still too cold. So how much of a difference in temperature does a greenhouse make? For example, can I put my plants out in 10 degree weather if they need 12?

Difficult to say.

I have a minimum -maximum thermometer in my mini greenhouses, which are still inside my big greenhouse which is otherwise unheated. In there, they have been staying at 10 degrees, occasionally as low as 5 but I then use fleece over the plants as well. You should get a few degrees warmer, but watch out for overheating past mid morning, mine are reaching 25 degrees if I'm not quick enough to unzip the plastic covers!
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴
