small onions, what feeds are good for growth?
« on: April 22, 2009, 17:53:47 »
Instead of planting my onion seed in individual cell trays, I decided to be lazy and sprinkle 9 varieties in 9 different trays mid january.

This seemed like a good idea until they all grew and then stopped growing at about 3 inches. This coupled with my lateness in planting them out has meant that all my onions which I 'eventually' planted out about 3 weeks ago are now 4 inch green spikes without any bulbs yet.

Do you reckon they'll be OK and I'll get a reasonable sized onion from each one? I'll make sure they get well chicken manured.

What sort of feeds do you all use?

Next time I'm doing the individual seed in the individual cell thing so thay have room to grow on while I loaf about in my shed.
