What could i do with all my spare time?

;D I think I would go mad without mine, and I don't think I am joking, after two friends dying suddenly last year and a relative whose recovery from a clot on the brain was described as 'a miracle' by doctors, it was the only place I could go to to find any calmness in my life.

When our local authority decided it was going to close allotments to sell of the land and I burst into floods of tears, I realised how much the place meant to me and I would do anything to keep it. Luckily I think they have changed there minds.

Sorry for such a  sad post, but my lottie means the world to me ;D/ shades x

We spent just about the whole bank holiday weekend down our lottie. With the weather being so nice, it was just like being on holiday. Since I'm self employed and the credit crunch has had a huge effect on our business, it's just as well coz it's prob the only holiday we'll get this year. Like angel shades, I have had an awful couple of years and it's good to have something to keep you going.

I love it down there, I can't even contemplate what I would do without it  :-\

I guess I would just spend more time and convert even more of my own garden to growing veg, but getting away to an oasis of peace and quiet would be sorley missed.

I was quite hesitant when I put my name down for plot back in 2005, worried that I would not be able to find the time to tend it properly......now after three years of having one I can't imagine why I didn't do it years earlier! Admittedly, things at home just have to slide a bit.... ::)
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Don't be sorry  :) I know my plot means so much to me and being able to go up there have a cuppa and stare out to sea, or glare at the weeds means the earth to me . I've also had a tough year since getting my plot and it has been my main source of sanity. One day it might me a source of pride - but that really is a 1 day wish  ;D

I would turn the whole of my back garden into a vegetable garden!! Complete with a small area for lounging !! Might even do it one day if for some reason we lose our allotment!

scream a lot and get depressed. Maybe turn to some other pursuit such as cycling more, reading, serial killing, dusting, rotting etc etc.

Seriously though it would be a massive loss.

I actually have my name on lots of plot lists all over Glasgow just in case. I had to turn two down last year but asked them to put my name at the end of the list again, which they did...... just in case.

It's not what I would do - its what my OH would do once the snappiness, sniping and general moodiness set in after 24 hrs of no lottie, and then it would go downhill from there.

This is a question I've had to ask myself a lot over the past year. I used to spend so many hours up there, often just watching the world go by after I'd done some weeding etc.

Then I got another little distraction.

Now I count myself lucky to get up once a month, and work like fury when I get there. But it's still my mental bolthole and I need to know it's there, but at the same time I've got an abject fear that I'll get evicted because it's now so terribly badly kept as I've not the time to do much.

I had hoped that by this year I'd be up and running again, but that wasn't bargaining on a husband who'd rather do his main hobby than allow me to do mine... and the weather this past year hasn't helped.

I don't come here much either as it reminds me. Only reason I popped on today is because I got to the plots yesterday and I don't feel guilty when I see the word allotment!

I now feel so sad about the whole thing, feel like I'm apologising every time I see a committee member (I was one till last autumn when I had to resign - felt two-faced being there and being unable to do much) but I'll fight like crazy to keep it as in 2-3 years I'll not have the current problem as the distraction will be able to come up and help! He's already showing signs of liking to dig...  ;D
