Bush Type Squash
« on: March 29, 2009, 21:44:33 »
Hi all, could anyone recommend me a decent flavoured bush type winter squash?I've tried bush delicata for a couple of years and they've been good but I want to squeeze a couple more bush varieties on my plot alongside my poncas,Uchiki Kiris and carnivals.
 Any guidance much appreciated.

I'm by no means an expert, but nearly all the squash I've grown send out shoots,
If you are short of space, have you thought of growing squash upwards?  They do very well up 8ft. bamboo canes and so long as the frame is strong, you can grow even heavy ones.

This is Blue Banana and you can see how big it was next to my hand.

HARRIER F1 is a bush variety of Butternut squash.

http://www.thompson-morgan.com/seeds1/product/76/1.html

The plant is supposed to be compact and grow about 3x3ft,  18 inches high, with 4-5 fruit on each.  It is also the fastest variety for seed to harvest,  maturing from August after as little as only 85 days.  So if the weather is a bit out, then you will still have a couple of months for them to mature to catch up.

All you do and all you see is all your life will ever be
