UNCOVER BROAD BEANS AND SPUDS?
« on: March 19, 2009, 22:23:13 »
evening all.
i've got broad beans planted december and growing well under a large cloche...concerned they'll 'bolt' if i leave'm covered, but also got early spuds just starting to sprout above ground.

should i partially uncover the cloche on the broad bean side, just take it all off or leave it for now? i live in essex near the M25.
thanks

hiya
ill let someone more experienced come along with proper advice, and correct me if im wrong....but......frost could still happen so id uncover them as long as you can get up there if the temp drops again, cos it all sounds quite established now?
how did i do,marks out of ten?
when the going gets tough, the tough go digging

you are afraid they will flower and run to seed?! Think about it.

Broad beans will handle any frost we are likely to get from now on but beware of any sudden shock. I would suggest leaving them covered until the beans reach the top of the covers or the covers are required elsewhere.
