I know I should have 'googled' this, but I don't know what it's called.

All I know is, I've spent 2 days diggin' the bl**dy roots out.
No lectures please, I'm gonna 'earful my sister who kindly 'gave it to me' as a pressie.

 Could it be Physalis? had the same trouble, they even came up in the middle of the lawn.

thanks for the reply, doesn't produce fruit though. I'm thinking 'Lilly of the Valley' now.
My back is now aching so much, my sister is in for a serious mouthfull!!!!!!!!! (of the roots)?
