Wot, No 'photo?
« on: September 05, 2004, 16:25:43 »
Dear Dan,  Please explain what I am doing wrong.  There was a photo on the message bits and bobs but I cannot see it.  Also, maz size 200KB, what dictates this size with respect to the photo, is it complexity, range of colour, landscape/portrait or what ?  Cheers, Tony.

I'm not Dan -but I can see your photo in the second of your messages.

Size of the photo is determined by physical size, resolution (dpi), file type (jpeg, gif &c) and compression.

You shouldn't need anything like 200k, get the photo to the appropriate physical size, set the resolution to 72dpi save it as a jpeg (jpg) with say 50% compression (medium quality).

Play around with a few on your computer until you get something you're happy with and check the file sizes of that.
